Careers Information

A well resourced Careers Library is open to boys throughout the day for private study and university/careers research.

Careers Education /Work related learning

Preliminary careers work is starts in Year 7 and continues through to Year 11 as part of the PSHE programme and through curriculum subjects. Pupils are offered the Morrisby Profile by Connexions in Year 10, and the Department prepares all pupils for work experience (which is completed at the end of Year 11). Special careers events, talks and seminars are organised in Year 12 and the Head of Sixth Form prepares boys for their university applications or alternative career routes in Year 13. Throughout the Senior School there are numerous opportunities for pupils to attend talks, conferences and open days and there are frequent visiting speakers. The Department organises a bi-annual Careers Convention that is open to all pupils and their parents (next event scheduled for 2011).

Careers Advice & Guidance

Advice and guidance is given by the Headmaster, Director of Studies, Heads of Year, Heads of Department and subject teachers. In addition, all boys will have the opportunity of several individual careers interviews with our allocated Careers Advisor from Connexions, who comes to the school for one day per week to assist boys with the choices that they have to make throughout the school.
