Old Boys shooting match - 27 April 2019
The 2018 annual shooting match between the School and OS has eventually taken place after much postponement, resulting in the tightest possible win for OS, 380 : 379. On Saturday morning last Martin & Rob Phillips assembled a group of eight OS, with leaving dates covering from quite recent to 13 years ago. All OS fired one target, while the boys were allowed two; the top scoring four for each team then contributed to the totals. There was some excellent shooting, for most it was the first time they had fired since leaving school, but it was Tom Mills who was the pick of the morning with a maximum possible 100 (he is one person who has kept up his shooting whilst at Oxford). The OS Shooting Shield, for the top score by one of the boys, was won convincingly by Nathan Blaker, who contributed two scores of 97.
An enjoyable morning was had by all and it is hoped to arrange the 2019 contest on a Saturday morning at some point in the latter part of the Autumn term. OS wishing to take part or to find out details are asked to contact Martin Phillips.
