Cadet shooting competition
Back
Over the weekend Skinners' CCF took a team of 4 cadets over to Pirbright Ranges to compete against 20 other CCF and ACF units.
The competition began with an Advance to Contact shoot, firing from the prone, kneeling and sitting positions from 300, 200 and 100m, with the team performing well and hitting a lot of targets which added up to their final score. The team then moved onto a different range to conduct the Fire-Team Assessment where again they were firing and running from a number different distances, really testing their Marksmanship Principles which they have been taught. To finish the day on Saturday the final shoot was the Fire-Team Defensive shoot which was the hardest of all the shoots as the targets would pop up at different distances at different timed intervals but the cadets did well and put everything they have learnt into practice.
On Sunday morning there was the falling plate knockout competition where Skinners' beat Churcher's College CCF to progress through to the next round. Following the draw in the last 16 they were up against the Vyne School CCF where they were narrowly beaten, with the Vyne going on to win second place overall.
Overall, Skinners' Shooting team performed well throughout the weekend and represented not only the CCF but Skinners' School to the highest standard.
