The SSI is a vital member of Skinners’ School CCF whose role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of this successful CCF contingent. The School Staff Instructor (SSI) is employed by the school and is directly responsible to the Contingent Commander for all aspects of administration including the MoD MIS systems known as Westminster, and the safe training of CCF adults and cadets. Cadets parade on a Monday afternoon and attend Field Days as well as the usual centrally-run annual camp and other formally organised competitions.
Normal working hours will be those necessary to carry out the duties of the post as SSI as required by the Contingent Commander and include Monday afternoon parades. Additional hours will occasionally be required at weekends and holidays for expeditions and camps, with approximately two main camps per year and 6 weekend expeditions.
School Staff Instructor (SSI)
1. The SSI is the key enabler of success in a CCF Contingent. They are school employees, recruited by the school to handle the administration and logistics for the Contingent. SSIs must be approved by the RPoCs, who should be involved in the recruitment process.
2. The SSI enables the Contingent Commander and other CFAVs to concentrate on forward planning, delivery, assessment, and supervision of cadet activities. The SSI reports to the Contingent Commander.
